Ugh, Ice & a Band of Gypsys
November 29, 2008
Listen to Buddy Miles (1947-2008) scat sing the guitar of Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) in "Who Knows" from a Band of Gypsys recorded live at the Fillmore East in 1970. Babies come.

What a great e-letter you put together. The story of Ugh had me wet-eyed, your comments about death rang so true. I lost my sister and only sibling a year ago and am still trying to cope with it & deal with the consequences. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself. You are much more than merely a weekly source of superior lamb products and humorous conversation!
I like coming to New York once a week to see market patrons like you who have become friends.
New York, as brash as it can seem, has a tender energy to it; there is a fellowship here, a sense of belonging to the city (is it the architecture that binds us?) that fosters a commonality that we extend to others. There is a classlessness here of which we are proud.
Strangers speak freely to one another because it is apparent that we are all strangers, all New Yorkers.
See you Saturday.
