Hand Washing

Natural Colors and Crocking

When you work with natural colors, you may experience crocking; where, after the dye bath, the pulverized dye plant leaves a colored residue on the yarn that comes off on your fingers while knitting.  Natural dyes are non-toxic and safe.

Hand wash your finished garment in warm water with a mild detergent. Rinse until the water runs clear.

Washing and rinsing will help set the colors.  The dyed colors of the garment are fast and they will not run or bleed into adjacent colors, nor will they come off on the wearer.
